In class: Assessment questions for Giovanni Boccaccio's "Federigo's Falcon"

Take out the short story. If you were absent yesterday, and did not go onto the blog, you will use this class time to carefully read and annotate the story. You should also check yesterday's blog for the write up in your notebook. The rest of the class is working on an assessment on the story. You will need to find time to complete this.

For those of you who were here yesterday, you are completing assessment questions. Please take out your story. This is independent work. Raise your hand, if you have a question: I wlll respond individually. As this is an assessment, communicating with each other is cheating. This work will go into the grade book as two classroom participation assignments.

Due at the close of class.

Getting ahead. Some folks are on a field trip tomorrow. On Wednesday / Thursday you are writing a text to self response on Federigo's Falcon.  When you have finished the assessment, take out your chromebook and read the following instructions. All essays are due by midnight Thursday.
1)
In the context of this story, does money buy happiness? Cite evidence from this text, your own experience, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.
                    OR
2) In the context of this passage, how does love emerge? Why does Federigo fall in love with Monna? What makes Monna change her mind about Federigo? Cite evidence from this text, your own experience, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.

Choose one and respond with a minimum of 250 words.
MLA heading; the title will be either "love" or "money"
This is due at the close of class tomorrow. Take your time to proof read for language convention errors.
Your checklist: spelling, subject/ verb agreement, capitalization (no i), tense changes. Correct use of commas and semicolons.  Vary your sentence structure. Yes, you will use I, but not "I think or I believe or in my opinion." You are including text. That means you need quotation marks. To cite use (Boccaccio).  Share 2006630
